Affordable Beauty: Discovering the Most Budget-Friendly and Beautiful Parrots

When it comes to affordability, budgerigars (also known as parakeets or budgies) take the crown as the most inexpensive parrots. You can often find them for just a few dollars. Lovebirds are also a budget-friendly option, typically costing less than a hundred dollars. Cockatiels fall into the next price tier, usually priced between one and two hundred dollars. Among these, the cockatiel is often cited for its beauty, though some budgies are also very striking.

Budgerigars: There's a wide variety of budgies, including the standard, English, crested, show, and exhibition types. The most affordable are the standard budgies, which can sometimes be found for as little as $25, and in some areas, it's not uncommon to find them priced at around $10 or even available in pairs.

Lovebirds: Lovebirds are categorized into two groups: the 'eye-ring' (or 'spectacled') lovebirds (generally restricted) and the 'non-eye-ring' lovebirds (generally permitted). The difference lies in their features. Look for a deep red beak and a distinct white eye ring; these are 'eye-ring' lovebirds. Those with lighter-colored beaks and no white eye-ring are 'non-eye-ring' lovebirds. Among the most affordable 'non-eye-ring' varieties are the Peachfaced and Yellow-collared Lovebirds. These can often be found for under $100 in pet markets.

Cockatiels: Cockatiels and Cockatoos belong to the Cacatuidae family, which is why some refer to the cockatiel as the "cheapest cockatoo". It's easy to tell them apart: Cockatiels are medium-sized parrots, often described as having rosy "apple cheeks" and a smaller crest on their head. Cockatoos are large parrots with large crests. Size also dictates price, with cockatiels ranging from $100-$200, while cockatoos can cost $10,000 to $20,000 or more.Related resource:Pet Training
