Can Hamsters Eat Mangosteen? Foods to Avoid

Hamsters can eat mangosteen, but there are several foods they should absolutely avoid, such as chocolate, cookies, and fruit pits.

Mangosteen is a perfectly safe and nutritious fruit for hamsters. They often enjoy it, and it’s a good source of vitamins. Other fruits hamsters can safely enjoy include bananas, blackberries, blueberries, cranberries, figs, grapes, kiwis, papayas, raspberries, star fruit, strawberries, and water chestnuts. Providing a variety of these fruits can help ensure your hamster gets a balanced diet and has a happy, healthy life.

However, it’s essential to be aware of the foods that are toxic or dangerous for hamsters. These include: fruit such as apricots, plums, loquats, peaches, nectarines, and apple seeds, which can cause heart paralysis, gastrointestinal problems, and breathing difficulties; vegetables such as onions, scallions, garlic, ginger, chives, celery, tomato leaves and stems, and potato leaves and stems which can damage their blood composition; plants such as daffodils, tulips, morning glories, azaleas, orchids, calamus, hyacinths, ferns, cyclamens, hydrangeas, platycodons, bracken, and alyssums. Furthermore, human snacks such as cookies, chocolate, coffee, and alcohol should be strictly avoided as they can induce heart attacks and are extremely harmful to your hamster’s health. Always prioritize your hamster's well-being by selecting safe and appropriate foods.Source:5D Pet World
