Papillons are small dogs, and generally, it is permissible to own them in Wuhan. Typically, large or aggressive breeds are not allowed within Wuhan's urban areas.
Wuhan's city regulations permit the ownership of small adult dogs with a height of 35cm or less. Adult Papillons typically stand about 20-28 centimeters tall and weigh between 3 to 5 kilograms, classifying them as small dogs and making them suitable for ownership in Wuhan. The Papillon, also known as the Butterfly Dog or Continental Toy Spaniel, is named for its distinctive butterfly-like ears. Originating in France, it is an ancient European breed.
Why Do Papillons Sometimes Bite Their Owners?
1. A Papillon might bite its owner to get their attention and initiate playtime. Since Papillons don’t have hands, they use their mouths to engage with their owners.
2. Biting can also occur during the teething phase, where their teeth cause discomfort, leading them to chew on objects. To help with this, provide your Papillon with appropriate chew toys or bones during their teething period.
It's essential to address biting behavior early in a Papillon's life. If left uncorrected, it can lead to problem biting habits as they mature. If you notice your Papillon exhibiting biting tendencies, you should sternly discourage this behavior, and using a loud verbal correction or making a sound with a object to startle them can be effective.
