Can Maltese Puppies Eat Egg Whites?

It's generally safe for puppies, including Maltese, to consume a small amount of cooked egg whites. Egg whites are a good source of protein and micronutrients, which can help boost a puppy's immune system when fed appropriately.

However, when feeding egg whites to your Maltese puppy, there are several crucial considerations. First and foremost, ensure the egg whites are thoroughly cooked, either boiled or steamed, before offering them to your dog. This step is essential to prevent the risk of bacterial or parasitic infections that can stem from raw eggs. Secondly, moderation is key. Egg whites contain avidin, a substance that, if consumed in large amounts, can inhibit the absorption of biotin (Vitamin H), potentially leading to nutrient deficiencies in your puppy. Finally, avoid overwhelming your puppy's digestive system by introducing too many egg whites, yolks, or meat all at once. Puppies have delicate digestive systems and are prone to experiencing digestive upset, such as indigestion, vomiting, and diarrhea, if they consume an excessive amount of these protein-rich foods.
